Slocan Valley Rail Trail is right adjacent to the property of Haus Lemon Creek and Haus Beaver Castle. In winter it gets regularly groomed and tracked by volunteers of the trail society and offers perfect conditions to cross country ski right from the doors of our guest houses.
Snow shoe hikers also find ideal conditions to perform their sport quite close. All highways and many logging roads get cleared in winter and provide good access for snow shoe and backcountry hiking in higher regions.
Down hill ski areas like Whitewater resort near Nelson and Red Mountain near Rossland guarantee dream like conditions for down hill as well as cross country skiing. Even for BC their powdery snow conditions are stunning and waiting times at the lifts do not exist.
Summit Lake area between Nakusp and New Denver is a small family oriented ski area. Most of all it offers ski fun and qualified training for local children and families.
Nancy Green ski area in the Paulson Pass Region provides kilometer long perfect groomed cross country ski tracks. Grades range from easy for beginners to difficult for experts.
Numerous logging and backcountry roads in the area offer stunning conditions for winter touring. Experienced skiers and hikers can access wilderness during all seasons.
