The small village of Kaslo catches one’s eyes because of its stunning location on the west bank of large Kootenay Lake and its very pioneer flair still kept until today.
|
Kaslo wuite often is named the most beautiful small community in BC and also called Switzerland in North America. Founded in 1889 the settlement prospered quickly. The Sternwheelers cruising Kootenay Lake docked her and got connected with the railroads into Slocan Valley.
Ss Moyie is the last existing sternwheeler of the many who once served the lakes of the region. True to original preserved the beautiful ship is Kaslo’s main attraction and takes visitors back to the old and so important days of the area.
In summer Kaso is well visited by many tourists. Nice restaurants invite to relax and boutiques and stores offer a variety of art and craft products designed and created by local artists.
Kaslo’s setting is ideal for all kinds of outdoor activities. The town is the prefect gateway to discover the unspoiled mountain wilderness north of the large Kootenay Lake.
